Tonight I made Coq au Vin,a recipe I had clipped out of Gourmet years ago. Long before I had a computer, just a sissor and a recipe box. Must have been the 80's. The dish was rich and tasty. If you closed your eyes while taking a bite you felt you were in Paris. Thanks Gourmet and Thanks Hungry Dog.Pamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17823045128266781018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-36547284587242672682009-10-15T20:52:32.557-07:002009-10-15T20:52:32.557-07:00Your sentiments are so on the mark. I still am one of those, yet I'm also a blogger. I think there is room for both, and it's a better world with both. But I fear that the way the publishing industry is going that actual journalistic reporting will be done by fewer and fewer people. And I think we as a community will all suffer a loss as a result. We will be less informed, and that's a sad thing to be.Food Galhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15459352815397922329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-58984674653500297012009-10-15T14:06:42.300-07:002009-10-15T14:06:42.300-07:00I am smitten with cream cheese frosting - the cake...I am smitten with cream cheese frosting - the cake looks and sounds wonderful. At least all of the innovative recipe will still be available on epicurious. It is a shame, Gourmet magazine was my favorite travel companion.Tres Jolie Studioshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08483058230417340986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-70420100284480468702009-10-15T10:47:55.363-07:002009-10-15T10:47:55.363-07:00I'll vouch for you! The feel of paper and book while I sit in a cozy corner reading will always be my preference. But then I belong to another generation. I am in agreement with you for the most part but there are so many who are not avid food bloggers. They use their computers for email and little else. So Gourmet and the like will be greatly missed by them. Unfortunately, I fear we are going to lose a lot of my favorite magazines and newspapers. We always adjust though. Life continues and we'll find our way.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10038190964528332030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-39107785519152526052009-10-15T06:23:59.530-07:002009-10-15T06:23:59.530-07:00your commentary was nicely thought out and very we...your commentary was nicely thought out and very well-written. more importantly (what can i say, my stomach often speaks louder than my brain), i can't think of a finer recipe to use as a farewell to an awesome magazine.gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02368850949339758604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-50475248768542925122009-10-14T16:33:36.620-07:002009-10-14T16:33:36.620-07:00Very valid Hungry Dog! I read the new online and of course I visit blogs - almost every "famous" cookbook author has their own blog anyway, so I go there for "serious" info and visit other blogs for social reasons.

Oh, and I trust you cos you're a dog person ;Pshazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06536552327023867787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-49620808918047924392009-10-14T15:18:59.536-07:002009-10-14T15:18:59.536-07:00I trust you for other reasons.I trust you for other reasons.Cee in SFhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03463492479217583941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4778802865313625485.post-41321009979887317942009-10-14T12:16:43.503-07:002009-10-14T12:16:43.503-07:00Nicely said.Nicely said.oneordinarydayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13234475615235148432noreply@blogger.com
